God takes away the world, that the heart may cleave more to Him in sincerity.

  • Cleave is such a wonderful word.

In Genesis 2:24, the Lord refers to when a man and a woman marry they shall cleave together. In the original Hebrew, the word cleave means:

    H1692 (Strong’s Number)
    ????
    da?baq
    daw-bak’
A primitive root; properly to impinge, that is, cling or adhere; figuratively to catch by pursuit: – abide, fast, cleave (fast together), follow close (hard, after), be joined (together), keep (fast), overtake, pursue hard, stick, take.

In a spiritual meaning, cleaving to God is not a casual relationship we are talking about but something that is bound together with a fast connection that is unbreakable regardless of the circumstances – we also have to recognise that we are bound to Him, based only on the cross of Jesus Christ and His righteousness and nothing of ourselves.

I find this word Cleave a fierce, emotive word as it speaks volumes of chasing after God with no other goal in sight and in this we find safety and security, the will of God and full acknowledgement of His sovereignty and glory in our lives.

    Bless you dear Bro :-D

  • Bless you Steph for your wonderfully edifying comment. :)
